Here is the outcome of the second clutch! I am very happy with the result. Stay tuned for more clutches next year.

Exciting moment
Yesterday some hatchlings of my second nest pipped out of their egg! The pairing was BEL (mojavexlesser) X Butter, so I had a 50% chance of hitting BEL's. As far as I can see for the moment I think 3 of the 5 eggs will be BEL's. Stay tuned for more photo's in a few days!
First hatchlings of 2014
This is a picture of the female spider ovulating, she was paired with a lesser. I was hoping to produce a lesser bee.
After her pre lay shed she laid 5 perfect eggs!
The outcome was 3 spider, 1 wild and 1 lesser, so I had no luck and didn't produce a lesser bee! Better luck next time :)

First sign
Hi, as you all know I am breeding with 2 couples at the moment. I have both put them together in January and for the last month they have been breeding quite a lot. Each of the 2 couples have had 6 long (12h) locks, which I have noticed. They both had other shorter locks too, which I probably didn't all saw. The big difference with last year is that the 2 females went trough a pre ovulation shed something the 2 females last year didn't do. I talked to some other breeders about that and it seems some snakes have a pre ovulation shed and some don't, it can be snake related or some other factors. The wild female didn't do it last year and this year she did, I don't have a clue why she did it this year.
All the information I found on that subject stated that if they have a pre ovulaion shed they will probably ovulate 3 to 4 weeks after the shed. I will keep you updated on that.
Last night when I went to the snake room for a last check I noticed the first sign of a succesfull breeding, the spider female was laying inverted. This is something they do for positioning their follicles and to absorb more heat into them.

Love is in the air
I have started my first project of this year, it is a Lesser X Wild breeding. Not the most exciting one, but I think every breeding stays special. I have put the male in yesterday evening and this morning I found them thogether, like you can see on the picture. Not 100% sure if they are locking, but I think they do!
Another thing I would like to share is that I purchased a new ball python this week. He is a male and is a co-dominant morph called phantom. Later this year he will be in two very special projects. If all goes well I will have six projects this year. So keep posted to see them all ;-)

The start of a new year
Hello, it has been a while but I couldn't upload pictures so I apologize for that. The start of the new year brought me some nice changes to my collection and my snake room. As you all know I bred some nice BEL's in 2012, I sold the most of them but one kept amazing me with his beauty. So he got a nice place and stays here, I have some nice plans for him. Secondly I traded a morelia viridis for another one, he is a lereh and I build him a nice new terra. And last but not least I traded some of my offspring for a champagne paradox female, I think she is stunning and pictures don't do her justice, but I gave it a try. Enjoy all the pictures en stay tuned!

First date
After conditioning the green tree pythons for a month, it was time to put them together. Both snakes are in optimal health and they have the ideal weight. The first few hours nothing really happened, but when I woke up in the morning there was some action going on. I added some pictures of the whole event, stay tuned for further updates on this project.

Morelia Viridis project
After my successful first breeding year with amazing results, 4 Bels in one clutch, I want to take my breeding program for 2013 a step further and try my luck ;-)
I'm gonna try breeding a couple of my Morelia Viridis: Liberty*Absinth
Liberty: This female is a bokondi, but looking at her family tree ( imported from USA) there also should be some mite phase in her DNA. She has fairly monotone green colouring with a few yellow accents on the verge between her belly and back. She has a very soft character and is used to handling, at the moment she weighs about 1 kilo.

Absinth: This male is a mountain cyclops, he has a nice clear blue detail on his back with some white accents. He weighs about 500 grams and is in mint condition. So hopefully he hits it off with Liberty.
I already began lowering the temperatures in both cages and I'm planning to put them together in a few weeks. I hope by christmas I can show you pics of some action between them ;-)

Mini rainforest in my livingroom
Snake breeding for this season is over, all snakes have hatched! By January I will have 2 other females ready for breeding again and I will keep you updated on those. In the meantime I have a few pictures of my paludarium in my livingroom. It's a rainforest paludarium with some geckos and frogs in it. The paludarium simulates rain and mist as wel as sunrise and sunset ( this is achieved by a dim function with timer). The moon is also simulated by a nightlight that has a 28 day moon cycle programmed. It has still a long way to go but I am already happy with the way it turned out. If you have any tips or comments please leave them below!

Just like winning the lottery
Today the last snake of the second clutch hatched, and I can say that I am very pleased with the result. As you all know we need a bit of luck when it comes to hatching special morphs. In this second clutch I was aiming for a blue eyed leucistic and with 25% odds and 6 eggs I would have been very dissapointed if I didn't hit one. But you just never know, so when hatching begins I'm always crossing my fingers. This time it actually worked, and it felt just like winning the lottery. The outcome was 1 mojave, 1 lesser and 4 BEL's !!! Enjoy the pictures below ;-)

Surprise
When I took a look at my incubator this morning, I was surprised to see the first snake had pipped. This is always a very exciting moment, but it even got better when I saw it was a BEL. I assume the others will also stick their heads out during the day and night to come. Tomorrow they wil start to come out completely. Stay tuned to see the complete outcome of the clutch!

D-day
D-day is coming soon, I cutted the eggs of the second clutch today on day 60. This was my Mojave*Lesser breeding, so I was aiming for a BEL (blue eyed leucistic). The odds are 25% of hitting a BEL for each egg seperatly, the other possibilities are Wild, Lesser or Mojave. I had 6 eggs so in theory I had to have 1,5 BELS. But as we have already seen with my first clutch, the theory isn't always put to reality. I had only 2 Pastels out of 7 eggs with 50% odds. After this morning's cutting I'm very pleased with the baby snakes I have seen. I'm gonna post som pics beneath, so you can judge yourselfs what will hatch in a few days. Please leave your thoughts in comment !!
